Student Optional Accident Coverage

VOLUNTARY STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE INFORMATION 2017-2018

Accidents aren’t supposed to happen, but they do. The Sonora Union High School District carries limited insurance through Self-Insured Schools of California (SISC). This plan provides up to $2,500 for accidental injury, at no cost to you, while attending school and participating in school sponsored activities and athletics. This coverage is SECONDARY to any other insurance which provides medical benefits to your child including Healthy Families. High School tackle football is excluded.

For these reasons, the school district has arranged for supplemental student accident insurance programs for your review and consideration. These insurance programs are optional and comply with California Education Code, which permits distribution of necessary information from the company providing the coverage.

There are two (2) insurance companies that you can purchase supplemental insurance for your student. One is through SISC and the other is through Gerber Life/Student Insurance.

SISC has two plans to choose from:

While participation in these insurance plans is voluntary, we urge you to consider the benefits. Although you may already have medical insurance for your family, purchase of this additional coverage could assist you by paying deductibles and balances left after your primary carrier has paid.
